Ordering With Just a Boundary

Coming soon. This capability has not been released yet. This page describes how it will work so you know what to expect. Until it is live, see Imagery & Data Sourcing to request imagery, or contact support@airworks.io if there is no coverage over your site.

You will be able to place an order in Automate with only a KML boundary — no imagery uploaded, no imagery request. AirWorks sources the data and starts processing from there.

When this is useful

  • Coverage checks come back empty or partial over your site

  • You know the scope and want the order in our queue before data is sorted out

  • Imagery is coming from a capture you have commissioned but not yet received

  • You are ordering against contracted pricing and the data does not exist yet

How it will work

  1. Create your project and draw or upload the KML for your processing area.

  2. Go to Checkout and select your bundle, add-ons, and deliverables as normal. Your estimate is calculated from the boundary.

  3. Submit the order. You will not be prompted to attach imagery or run a coverage check.

  4. We take it from there. Your order is flagged internally as awaiting data. Our team sources imagery for your area and adds it to the project.

  5. Processing begins once the data is in place.

What to expect

Your turnaround clock starts when data arrives, not at checkout. Extraction cannot begin without imagery, so the delivery estimate shown at checkout applies from the point processing actually starts. How long that takes depends on whether we are pulling archive imagery, tasking a new collection, or waiting on a scheduled flight.

We will come back to you if there is a decision to make. If your area has multiple imagery options at different resolutions or price points, or no viable source at all, we will contact you before proceeding rather than making the call for you.

Cost is not final at checkout. Your estimate covers extraction. Imagery is added once the source is confirmed.

If you have a deadline, tell us. A boundary-only order is the right move when scope is known and data is not, but it is the wrong move if you need delivery by a fixed date and coverage is uncertain. Flag the date with your AirWorks contact when you submit.

What you still need

A valid KML of your processing area is required. See Creating a processing area if you are not sure how to define one.
