Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS) in the Project Viewer

Every AirWorks deliverable is tied to a coordinate reference system (CRS), which determines how your data lines up in the real world. Because the Project Viewer is built on Esri, deliverables are viewed and measured using the CRS embedded in your project data, consistent with common systems like State Plane and UTM/NAD83.

Getting your CRS right before you upload

AirWorks applies whatever CRS is embedded in your input data, so:

  • All files for a project (imagery, point cloud, CAD) should be in the same CRS before upload

  • We recommend using GIS software (such as QGIS) to confirm your files are correctly and consistently projected before submitting them

  • For projects in the United States, we recommend UTM where possible; epsg.io is a helpful resource for identifying the right CRS/EPSG code for your project

Coordinate systems not yet supported

A few coordinate systems aren't yet supported in the AirWorks web application and AirWorks CAD, including:

  • Any NAD83 HARN or HPGN systems

  • Any local/arbitrary coordinate systems

  • EPSG:2958 (NAD83(CSRS) / UTM zone 17N)

  • EPSG:31468 (DHDN / 3-degree Gauss-Kruger zone 4)

If your data uses one of these, imagery or point cloud files may fail to upload, or CAD linework may appear shifted in the viewer even though the underlying file is accurate. If you're working in one of these systems, we recommend reprojecting to a supported CRS before upload; if that's not possible, reach out and we'll work with you directly.
