Input Data Requirements:

  • an .LAS or .LAZ file, non-classified, AirWorks will handle the classification

  • a .TIFF or .TIF file

  • a .KML of your area of interest, either uploaded or drawn in the app

  • all files should have a resolution of 0.5 or 1 ft.

Price:

Breaklines Powered by Datasight are charged at a standard rate of $3.00/acre.

What You Will Receive:

Breaklines Powered by Datasight are delivered the same way as your usual AirWorks deliverables – via the project page in your account, where you can choose to view and download the files. For each job processed by BreaklineBuilder, three full sets of output data are calculated with different grade-break sensitivities (Low, Med, High). You will receive all three and given the option to use the one that works best for your project.

Additional Information on Datasight’s Breakline Builder:

What is Breakline Builder and how does it work?

Breakline Builder extracts breaklines from point clouds or digital elevation models. Those breaklines are defined by the grade-breaks in your ground layer. A grade-break is defined as anywhere there is an abrupt change in slope from one spot on the ground to another. These breaklines can be used to create a digital surface with the least amount of data possible while retaining the most accurate shape of the ground. Less data also makes contours smoother and less jagged, which looks more natural than contours made from DEM or meshing.

What doesn’t Breakline Builder do?

Breakline Builder does not seek out feature lines that represent visible things that can be seen on a map/ Building outlines, paint stripes, sidewalk,s and utilities can all be defined by 2D linework. Breakline Builder will only find these features if they are also creating a grade-break.
